Outline
Executive Summary
- nice summary about the document.
- The summary answers the managers' question "Why should we do this ? "
about
- scope / out of scope
- some information about the document and the team
Introduction
- SAP Overview
- High Availaibility Overview
- Cluster Technology Overview
Sample Cluster
- Description of our test cluster setup-
Hardware Requirements
- Shared storage requirements
- Server hardware requirements
- Network requirements
RedHat Cluster Basics
- OpenAIS / CMAN
Description of the core cluster infrastructure.
- Qdisk
Description of the RedHat's version of a quorum disk.
Some thougts about the configuration of a qdisk.
- DLM
The state of the art Linux distributed lock manager.
- Fencing
Why do we need a fencing mechanism ?
- CLVM
Cluster wide shared storage virtualization with LVM.
- Host based mirroring
Cluster aware host based mirroring
- GFS
A posix compliant cluster filesystem.
- Cluster Resource Manager (rgmanager)
How can we make the resources highly available ??
- Sharedroot Cluster
Let's think about a shared root environment. What is it ? Why should I use it ?
Operating System Installation
- Installation considerations
Let's think about the follwoing toppics:
- storage layout
- selinux
- shared root installation procedure
- Cluster Core Configuration
- Shared root Cluster Installation
- Local root Cluster Installation
SAP Installation
- SAP Achitecture
- SAP Kernel: 700 x86_64 UC PL 180
- Installation Type: WebAS ABAP, Enqueue Replication
- Database: Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 x86_64
It has to be listed which SAP releases and databases are supported as well.
- SAP Virtual IP Addresses
Virtual IP addresses are needed for:
- ASCS
- CI
- Database
- (IP for Enqueue Replication is not needed - why it has been used in demo setup?)
- SAP File Systems
Have to be discussed whether GFS is used or not. Manfred suggested to use local filesystems like ext3. ___Topic discussed with Mark and Manfred again. We will show ext3 as well as GFS configuration and mention that it has to be tested.
Host based mirroring via clvm? (cmirror)
quorum disk? (at name server via nfs?)
A high available NFS server is required to provide /sapmnt.
- SAP Installation
Will be refered to the SAP Installation Guide.
- SAP Installation Postprocessing
Has to be described in detail.
- SAP Enqueue Replication Server
Will be refered to SAP Library.
Resource Manager Configuration
- Resource configuration
- configure dependencies
- following the replicated enqueue.
