The Comoonics Desater Recovery Concept
The comoonics desaster recovery process consists of two parts:
- The creation of a desaster recovery DVD with comoonics-create-restoreimage
- The desaster recovery (comoonics-restore-system) itsself.
Desaster Recovery DVD creation
Prerequisites
In order to build a comoonics recovery DVD, you'll need the latest comoonics LiveCD.
install mkisofs
Installation
On the cluster that shall be saved on a recovery DVD the following software package has to be installed: You can use yum or up2date to install the comoonics desaster recovery solution:
# up2date -i comoonics-dr-py
Configuration
The comoonics desaster recovery solution comes with a TUI based wizard for configuration and ISO creation.
- As root user start the comoonics-create-restoreimage program
# comoonics-create-restoreimage
The assistant will read the configuration files and scan your system for the required settings. this can take some time...
Main screen
On the main screen, the current configuration can be seen. If you have not already configured your comoonics desaster recovery solution, it would be a good time to do it now.
The following image shows the comoonics dr main window with unconfigured default settings.

Press Modify to start the configuration wizard.
Configuration Wizard
The configuration wizard leads you through the configuration settings. Each window is devided into three parts. The first setting shows the current value, the next sections show the parameter that the wizard has detected by scanning your system. The last option can be used to add the required parameter manually.
The following configuration parameter have to be set:
Backup path
The path, where the backup files shall be stored, before the recovery cd creation. Please note, that the backup path should really not lie on the root filesystem.

The livecd
The next value defines the location of the comoonics livecd. Device paths and iso file locations are valid.

Start
Now after you have configured your recoverycd assistant, you might want to save the configuration by hitting the Save button.
To start the rescuecd creation hit Start

Now you should burn your recoverycd to a dvd....
Recovery
In order to start the recovery, boot your recovery dvd and start the program comoonics-restore-system
